Margaux, Bordeaux (2e Cru Classe) | 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot | 92/100 NM

Known historically as the "First of the Seconds," Château Brane-Cantenac sits upon the most illustrious gravel plateau in Margaux. Under the meticulous guidance of Henri Lurton, this estate has reclaimed its throne, producing wines defined by an ethereal elegance that few in the Médoc can replicate.

The 2012 vintage was all about patience and precision. While the growing season demanded "ceaseless vigilance," the late-ripening fruit harvested in mid-October resulted in a wine of remarkable vigour and "Pauillac-like" power. It opens with a sophisticated bouquet of graphite, wild hedgerow, and tobacco leaf, evolving into a palate of vivid black fruit laced with white pepper and leather.

Harmonious and poised, this is a Margaux for the purist - silky, structured, and just now entering a prime drinking window that will reward the patient for another decade, or more.
