BENOÎT DÉHU
2025 EX-CELLAR RELEASE
Since we first encountered Benoît Déhu, we knew his wines deserved a special place in our Grower Champagne portfolio.
A one-man band on a mission to prove that Meunier is the rockstar grape of the Vallée de la Marne, Benoît spent his formative years at Bollinger before leaving the Grande Maison to pursue his own path. He secured a prized vineyard from his family’s historic estate (La Rue des Noyers), turning it into his biodynamic playground - a mere 1.7ha single plot where he pushes the boundaries of what Meunier can achieve when obsessively cared for. Think old vines dating back to 1950, experimentation with new plantings on various rootstocks, and in-house, bespoke barrel making using wood sourced from the family forest surrounding the vines. A few years ago, another exciting project came to life with Pinot Noir plantings from a Pommard clone, expanding his unique Blanc de Noirs range.
Benoît Déhu's energy is palpable in his wines. Blocked malolactic fermentation, zero dosage, and smart oak élevage allow the Pinots fruit to speak loudly for both its terroir and the man behind this highly distinctive Champagne range.
Following our first official UK release last year, we are pleased to offer a new allocation directly from Benoît's cellars in Fossoy. A preferential price for pre-arrival orders is available before we ship them in late November, after which they will revert to our standard retail list price.Let us know your preferred selection, and we will secure your golden share of these unique Grower Champagnes.
LA RUE DES NOYERS 2020 BASE – 100% Pinot Meunier
Not Yet Reviewed - Previous Vintage Note on Vinous (2019 Base): “A gorgeous, beautifully understated wine. As always, the Rue des Noyers is an especially savoury Meunier. This is not the most obvious or overt Meunier out there, but it is among the most fascinating because of its dynamic energy and overall complexity.”
EP PRICE: £ 330 IB per 6x75cl( List Price £360)- 4 Cases Available
-
LA RUE DES NOYERS 2017 BASE (MAGNUMS) – 100% Pinot Meunier
“The NV (2017) Cuvée La Rue des Noyers is a gorgeous wine, especially for the year. The 2017 bristles with energy and complexity as it opens with aeration. Apricot, tangerine peel, spice, ginger, lemon confit and a touch of oak all build in the glass. A closing flourish of tropical fruit and spice linger on the subtle close. This ample, expressive Champagne is lights out. No dosage.” 94/100 Points, Antonio Galloni

LES CHAILLOTS VIELLES VIGNES 2015 (MAGNUMS) – OLDEST PINOT MEUNIER VINES from 1950 Plantings in La Reu des Noyers
“The 2015 Brut Nature Blanc de Noirs Les Chaillots Vieilles Vignes, bottled only in magnum, is a rich, heady Champagne. Tangerine peel, dried herbs, menthol and licorice are all dialed up. There are some slightly vegetal notes, but this is a wine with impressive power and depth. It will be especially fine at the dinner table, where some of the smaller imperfections will not be noticeable.” 92/100 Points, Antonio Galloni
EP PRICE: £ 320 IB per 1x150cl ( List Price £350)- 6 Magnums Available
-
L’ORME 2019 – 100% Pinot Noir from Pommard Clone
“The 2019 Brut Nature Blanc de Noirs L'Orme, Dehu's 100% Pinot Noir, is quite the extrovert in this vintage. A rush of red-toned fruit, spice, crushed flowers, mint and tangerine peel makes a strong opening statement. Bold and effusive, the 2019 is long on personality. Time in the glass brings out the wilder, gamier side of Pinot Noir to round things out.” 93/100 Points, Antonio Galloni
EP PRICE: £ 468 IB per 6x75cl( List Price £510)- 3 Cases Available
-
INITIATION 2021 BASE - Pinot Noir & Meunier
“The NV (2021) Initiation is an attractive wine, perhaps a bit lithe in this release, but still very pretty. Crushed rocks, flowers, mint, dried herbs and red-toned fruit all grace the palate. Blocked malolactic fermentation and no dosage further amplify the wine's decidedly taut leanings. All things considered, this is a gorgeous 2021. Disgorged: April 26, 2024. Drink 2024-2030” 90/100 Points, Antonio Galloni
EP PRICE: £ 258 IB per 6x75cl( List Price £285 )- 8 Cases Available

INITIATION 2018 BASE (MAGNUMS) – Pinot Noir & Meunier
“The NV (2018) Initiation is a terrific entry-level Champagne from Benoit Déhu that blends Pinot Noir into a core of Meunier. Soft and creamy, with terrific persistence, the Initiation is wonderfully expressive today. Apricot, ripe pear, dried flowers and lightly honeyed nuances all build into the resonant finish. No dosage.” 90/100 Points, Antonio Galloni
